The Republic of the Sudan has formally submitted its dossier for full membership of the Organisation of Southern Cooperation (OSC), marking a significant step in its commitment to advancing the shared objectives of the Greater South.
In response to the General Assembly’s call for all countries of the Greater South to join the OSC in building a new, inclusive multilateralism, the Republic of the Sudan deposited the necessary documentation, including its Instrument of Acceptance to the Secretary-General of the OSC, H.E. Manssour Bin Mussallam. The dossier was presented by the Ambassador of the Republic of the Sudan to Ethiopia, Mr. Elzein Ibrahim Hussein, during a meeting at the Organisation’s headquarters in Addis Ababa.
Welcoming Sudan’s move, the Secretary-General praised the country’s alignment with the Organisation’s mission to foster balanced and inclusive development through South-South cooperation, solidarity, and sovereign decision-making. “Sudan’s application reinforces the growing momentum of the OSC and the commitment of Southern countries to shaping the future we want—one rooted in equity, dignity and shared progress,” he stated. For his part Ambassador Hussien praised the work of the Organisation, stating that this is exactly what the world needs at this time.
The Organisation of Southern Cooperation continues to welcome applications from all nations of the Greater South that share its vision for a Third Way of Development and a more just international order.
