Interactive and Contextualised Learning Resources via OSC’s New Digital Platform

Addis Ababa, 20 February 2024 – The Secretary-General of the Organisation of Southern Cooperation (OSC), Sheikh Manssour Bin Mussallam, today officially launched the Greater South Learning Enrichment Resources Nexus (GreSLERN) digital platform during an event held at the Headquarters of the Organisation in Addis Ababa.

The unveiling of the GreSLERN digital platform was another momentous occasion hosted by the Organisation of Southern Cooperation (OSC) during which the Secretary-General of the OSC welcomed the Minister of Innovation and Technology of Ethiopia, H.E. Belete Molla Getahun, to the venue for a brief ceremony in the presence of Ambassadors of OSC Member States and others, representatives of OSC Associate Members, educational institutions, CSOs, development agencies, researchers, instructors, and students.

The Greater South Learning Enrichment Resources Nexus (GreSLERN) is an initiative by the OSC aimed at providing an open-source, free-of-charge, and customisable digital tool to support Member States educators and curriculum development centres in their implementation of the Balanced and Inclusive Education approach. It will contribute to facilitating the production of interactive, engaging, and contextualised digital learning resources.

The launch of GreSLERN is a cornerstone event that marks a critical milestone towards the achievement of the OSC’s vision of fostering the collective exchange of ideas, research, and knowledge from academic and non-academic domains among Member States and Associate Members, and across the Global South.

Just a week after launching another digital platform called the Greater South Information System, GresLERN is yet another demonstration of the commitment of OSC to advance the collective exchange of ideas, research, and knowledge.

The Organisation of Southern Cooperation (OSC) was established on 29 January 2020 by countries and organisations from across the Global South at the International Summit on Balanced and Inclusive Education held in the Republic of Djibouti. As the first intergovernmental organisation of and by the Greater South, the OSC acts as an instrument of intellectual, technical and financial cooperation and solidarity between its Member States as well as its Associate Members in the pursuit of a Third Way of Development – from the South, for Humanity.
