Two months after the holding of the International Summit on Balanced and Inclusive Education, the Organisation of Educational Cooperation (OEC) has successfully established its Preparatory Committee.

The Secretary-General-elect of the OEC, H.E. Manssour Bin Mussallam, chaired the first meeting of the Preparatory Committee through a videoconference that was attended virtually by its members owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The meeting served as an opportunity to discuss and outline the Organisation’s vision towards the operationalization of an efficient, inter-sectoral, sustainable and solidarity-based organization systematically advancing the collective aspirations of its Member States for equitable sustainable development.

The Constitutive Charter of the OEC mandated the Secretary-General-elect to establish and chair a Preparatory Committee until OEC’s Constitutive Charter enters into force. The Preparatory Committee is responsible for drafting and preparing the OEC programmes, budget estimates, and make such other relevant arrangements to be submitted to the first General Assembly.
