The Organisation of Southern Cooperation (OSC) and the International Cooperation Group of Brazilian Universities (GCUB) are delighted to announce the results of the GCUB International Mobility Scholarship Programme (GCUB-MOB).

This initiative stems from the historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the OSC and GCUB on 8 February 2024. Under this significant partnership, GCUB has committed to offering up to 400 annual postgraduate scholarships for Master’s and Doctoral degrees to students from OSC Member States, providing recipients with the opportunity to pursue advanced studies at renowned Brazilian universities affiliated with GCUB.

With an impressive 17,542 applications from 126 countries, notably, 9,827 applicants – representing 56.01% of the total – originated from OSC Member States, highlighting the programme’s extensive reach and the growing demand for educational opportunities across the Greater South.

Following a rigorous selection process that prioritised academic excellence and innovative potential, 300 scholarships were awarded to students from 17 OSC Member States, making up 39.8% of the total scholarships.

Beyond academic achievement, the programme offers scholars a transformative experience through enriching cultural exchanges. These exchanges foster global understanding while equipping participants with the skills needed to address local challenges. By blending education with cultural immersion, the initiative aligns seamlessly with the OSC’s vision of diversity, self-reliance, and inclusive development. Scholars benefit from advanced academic knowledge while also developing a profound appreciation of shared human values, creating a positive impact that transcends borders.

More than just a scholarship initiative, the programme embodies a shared commitment to empowering the leaders of tomorrow through transformative education.
