Secretary-General-elect and Yemen Ministers of Education and Higher Education hold bilateral meeting


The Secretary-General-elect of the Organisation of Educational Cooperation (OEC), H.E. Manssour Bin Mussallam, and the Minister of Education, H.E. Abdullah Lamlas, and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, H.E. Hussein Basalama, of the Republic of Yemen held a videoconference to discuss the adverse implications of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Secretary-General-elect welcomed the commitment of Yemen to the values and objectives of the Organisation. The Secretary-General-elect also reiterated the Organisation’s resolve to effectively and contextually assist in, and contribute to, the rebuilding of Yemen’s education system, bridging the techno-digital urban/rural divide, enhancing capacity-building and facilitating the pairing of universities across OEC’s Member States.

The Minister of Education and the Minister of Higher Education expressed Yemen’s commitment to ratify the Constitutive Charter of the OEC and to support the development and the implementation of the Organisation’s programmes of work.

Yemen is a founding State of the Organisation.
