Addis Ababa, 11 June 2025 – The Secretary-General of the Organisation of Southern Cooperation (OSC) renews his expression of complete and unwavering solidarity with the State of Palestine, as a founding Member State of the OSC, and in particular with the People of Gaza suffering a genocide and being denied humanitarian aid and support.

The Secretary-General condemns, in the strongest terms, the kidnapping of the activists on board of the Madleen, a boat from the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) carrying humanitarian aid navigating in international waters of the Mediterranean Sea by Israel which is a violation of International Law.

The Secretary-General joins his voice to the calls already made by other international organisations in further condemning the intent and acts of genocide committed by Israel. Israel must give way for a humanitarian corridor and for the immediate cessation of hostilities and violence.

In conclusion, the Secretary-General commends efforts made by Sovereign States in recognising the State of Palestine, condemning the brutal acts of Israel, and further supports them for bringing a genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The Secretary-General calls to the international community to impose sanctions on Israel, equivalent to those that were taken against South Africa during the apartheid era.
