As part of its ongoing commitment to safeguarding digital assets and maintaining high standards of data security, the Organisation of Southern Cooperation (OSC) conducted a two-day intensive Information and Cybersecurity Awareness training workshop on the 17th and 18th of July, 2024. Facilitated by the Department of Technological Innovation and Digitalisation Enhancement (TIDE), this essential training formed a crucial part of the OSC’s Institutional Learning Programme.

Designed to equip staff with critical cybersecurity knowledge and skills, the workshop provided engaging sessions and hands-on exercises. Participants gained invaluable insights into data protection best practices, threat mitigation strategies, and the creation of a secure digital environment. This training not only aimed to bolster individual competencies but also sought to fortify the OSC’s overall cybersecurity framework.

The key objectives of the training were to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity in today’s digital landscape, provide practical skills to create a cyber-secure environment within individual workspaces and the broader OSC, and encourage the adoption of best practices in cybersecurity tailored to the specific needs and contexts of the OSC.

The training covered a comprehensive range of topics essential for maintaining cybersecurity, including the significance of cybersecurity, data protection best practices, threat identification and response, and strategies for fostering a secure digital environment within the OSC.

By investing in targeted capacity-building initiatives like this training, the OSC underscores its commitment to excellence and innovation in an era defined by interconnectedness and rapid digitalisation. Enhancing our collective cybersecurity knowledge and practices not only protects our data but also fortifies our organisational integrity.
