Addis Ababa, 14 July 2025 – It is with deep sorrow that the Secretary-General of the Organisation of Southern Cooperation, Manssour Bin Mussallam, mourns the passing of His Excellency, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
On behalf of the Organisation and in his personal capacity, the Secretary-General extends the deepest and most sincere condolences to the Government and People of Nigeria, as well as to President Buhari’s family and loved ones.
President Buhari was a distinguished and principled leader, whose unwavering dedication to the advancement and sovereignty of Nigeria earned him the respect of his nation and the wider international community.
In January 2020, under his leadership, Nigeria became a Founding Member of the OSC—an enduring testament to his visionary outlook and firm belief in solidarity, cooperation, and shared purpose among nations and peoples.
His legacy, anchored in a lifelong commitment to national stability and development, will remain a lasting source of inspiration for generations to come.
