26 December 2025 — The General Assembly of the Organisation of Southern Cooperation (OSC), during its 4th Extraordinary Session on 26 December 2025, having taken note of the Secretary-General’s resignation and expressed its gratitude for his service to the Organisation since its inception in January 2020, has resolved to discontinue the programmatic activities and complete the administrative closure of the Organisation by 30th June 2026. It further requested the Secretary-General to lead the process to its orderly conclusion.
The Resolution follows the financial challenges faced by the OSC since January 2025 as a result of the delay in receiving the assessed contributions of Member States to the 2025 budget. The General Assembly accordingly urged all Member States to settle their 2025 arrears as soon as possible in order for the Organisation to settle its financial obligations, including all dues to staff, partners, and service providers.
The Secretary-General has additionally been tasked with the archiving of all of the OSC’s achievements, legal and working documents, and lessons learnt, to preserve institutional memory for the future of South-South cooperation.
