Official visit of the Secretary-General to Suriname

On his official visit to Suriname, Secretary-General Manssour Bin Mussallam attended the opening ceremony of the 16th Business Forum of the Greater Caribbean on the margins of the 29th Ordinary Meeting of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) Ministerial Council, inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Suriname, H.E. Chandrikapersad Santokhi.

After the opening ceremony, the Secretary-General, the President of the Republic of Suriname, the Ministers of Suriname, and the Heads of Delegation also officially inaugurated the Official Exhibition at the ACS 29th Ordinary Meeting of the Ministerial Council.

The Secretary-General held fruitful bilateral meetings with Rodolfo Sabonge, Secretary-General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS); and Cindy Larissa Rodríguez Mendoza, Vice Minister for International Cooperation and Promotion of Honduras; Amb. Carolina Molina Barrantes, Director of International Cooperation of Costa Rica; Amb. Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba; Stanley Raghoebarsing, Minister of Finance and Planning of Suriname; Hugo Francisco Rivera Fernández, Vice-Minister for Economic Affairs and International Cooperation of the Dominican Republic; Hon. Ms. C. Sandra V. Husbands, Minister of Education, Technological and Vocational Training of Barbados; Daniel Cámara Ávalos, Director General of Regional American Organisations and Mechanisms of Mexico, and Dr. Carla Natalie Barnett, Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

Exchanges exploring areas of collaboration and cooperation on Endogenous Technology, Transdisciplinary Research, Balance and Inclusive Education, and Financing for Development.

During the closing ceremony, the Secretary General congratulated Foreign Minister (e) Luis Gilberto Murillo, who will hold the Chairmanship of the Council of Ministers of the Association of Caribbean States on behalf of Colombia.
