The Secretary-General Manssour Bin Mussallam addresses the International Forum of UNESCO Chairs and Partners convened by the African Union Commission at the parallel session “Rethinking the Curriculum: The Need for Endogenous Education in the 21st Century”, organised with the African Curriculum Association (ACA), #OSC Associate Member; UNESCO International Bureau for Education, and the Organisation of Southern Cooperation (OSC).
The Secretary-General focused on the urgent need to provide education systems with the means to be at the service of national development priorities and aspirations, as well as to become more efficient and capable of providing quality education for all.
This parallel session counted with the participation of Svein Oesttveit, Director a.i. of UNESCO International Bureau for Education; Dr. Shubhangi Sharma, OSC Under-Secretary-General for Systemic and Endogenous Educational Development (SEED) accompanied by Dr. Belay Kassa, Head of Planning of SEED; and a delegation of ACA with Ali Kore, Chairperson and Director General; Offorma Grace, Executive member; Abdulaziz Kakooza, Curriculum Specialist, and Thomas Osei Kumah.
