OSC delegation participated at UNEA-6 in Nairobi

The Organisation of Southern Cooperation delegation, having been accredited as an observer, participated in the sixth session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-6) in Nairobi, led by the Secretary-General Manssour Bin Mussallam accompanied by his Special Adviser for Environmental Policy and Climate Action, Dr. Getahun Garedew.

The Secretary-General held fruitful meetings on the sidelines at UNEA-6 with Ms. Ligia Noronha, UN Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the UNEP New York Office; UNEP’s Major Groups Facilitating Committee (MGFC)Minister of Environment of the Republic of Angola, H.E. Ana Paula Chantre Luna De Carvalho Pereira; Minister of Green Economy and Environment of the Republic of Zambia, Hon. Eng. Collins Nzovu; Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of the Republic of Nicaragua, H.E. Heyddy Calderón Palma; Minister of Environment of Mauritania, H.E. Lalya Kamara; Minister of State for Environment of Rwanda, Hon. Dr. Claudine Uwera, Secretary-General Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of Madagascar, Mr. Andry Fidiniaina Moïse Rasamoelina; and the Regional Coordinator for Africa of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), Ibrahima Sow.

The exchanges focused on exploring and materializing areas of collaboration, underpinned by South-South cooperation.
